12 years - A Legacy of Love

It's been 12 years since HOOFS2010 began the calling of a life journey that has been filled with many experiences and it all started because of 15 young Brumbies and 5

mares who were in foal and were going to be sent to slaughter for processing, it was the day that Stephanie, my daughter begged me to do something to save them and we did.

For me personally, it was the turning point in my life, the start of a legacy that I didn't expect and one that has evolved and grown. We started in the Hunter Valley on leased land, it was a beautiful property, perfect for the Brumbies we had rescued, All five mares gave birth to their foals, two years later each foal connected with their human partners in our re-homing program and all the mares were given sanctuary for life, they are still with HOOFS2010.

Some time later my family and I relocated to Berrigan, New South Wales where I bought a property on ten acres to place a firm foot on the ground and to establish the Brumby Rescue Sanctuary. There was a lot of work that had to be done to get it all up and running, a major task, we pushed through it and we achieved it.

HOOFS2010 formally launched the official opening of the Brumby sanctuary in Berrigan on the 4th July 2012. It was an open day for the public and celebrated with a welcome from Mayor John Bruce who had said that he enjoyed watching the sanctuary grow and prosper. Reverend McGrath from St Columbus in Berrigan blessed the sanctuary, taking time time to remind all those present the gift of animals and our obligation to be kind to all creatures.

This 12 year journey been filled with every kind of emotion possible, the ups and downs, the roller coaster ride, the heartache, the tears, the sadness, frustration and even the anger. Many people have stepped out on the limb, they have done the work, they have dug deep, they have contributed to this Brumby plight in their own way. To that, we say thank you, your support has been and still is tremendous.

We have much to achieve and we will do it. For those who may not know HOOFS means HELP OUR OLD FRIENDS SURVIVE

We have been doing exactly that for 12 years and we will continue!
