The Ground Work Has Begun

After several floods due to heavy rain that we have endured here at the sanctuary over the years we are finally getting the much needed ground work, which means drainage will be put into place so there are no more bog holes, sand for the laneways expertly done, our arena given a major make over and even fences replaced. The sanctuary grounds have become worse for wear after each and every flood that we endured, it's been quite a struggle to work around for such a long time and up until recently we did not have the funds to do any maintenance work.

That all changed when we recently received a grant, it was given because of the major flooding we experienced in November 2021. Honestly it brings tears to my eyes to finally see this much needed work being done, we have made do for many years and it has not been easy. The joy and the relief I am feeling right now is something I cannot put into words. We have pulled yards down, moved fencing, re-arrange paddocks, move the Brumbies so many times over the years and we have tried to re-work the sanctuary grounds after every heavy downpour only to end up right back in the same situation.

This grant means we will never have to go through what we have had to endure when it rains again. The sanctuary grounds are now in perfect condition with all the right drainage in all the right places as well as asphalt, sand and crushed rock laid and compacted. The excavation work that has been done by the experts is a wonderful sight. Everything will be in it's place and never have to be moved or pulled down again and that is the biggest relief.

12 years and I feel that HOOFS2010 has grown to become a very worthy charity. We've walked along some very unstable grounds, we've felt the ups & downs, we've been challenged, we've struggled, we've cried tears and gone through some major heartbreaks and through all of this I personally stood with what I firmly believe is my soul calling and that is to HELP OUR OLD FRIENDS SURVIVE aka HOOFS.
