Introducing Bounty: Born on Sanctuary on October 26th, 2022, this spirited young Brumby hails from Barmah, one of the River Road Brumbies.

At 16 months old, Bounty is thriving under the watchful care of her devoted mother and doting Aunty Avani.

With her playful personality and robust appetite, Bounty still enjoys the occasional visit to the "milk bar," much to the delight of her patient mother, Calypso.

As she continues to grow, Bounty will remain in the comfort of her mob setting here at the sanctuary surrounded by the love and support of her Brumby family.

Eclipse

Introducing Eclipse: The daughter of Avani, who arrived at HOOFS2010 Sanctuary still nursing from her mother alongside her younger sister Luna.

Unfortunately, Eclipse's growth was stunted due to early starvation, and she will remain as a lifer at the sanctuary.

Hailing from Barmah as a River Road Brumby, Eclipse's journey embodies strength and determination in the face of adversity.

Luna, Eclipse's sister, also joins her from the River Road Barmah area, adding to the familial bond that makes their story even more poignant.

Hailing from the Bago region as a proud Brumby, Sera's playful antics and bold personality add a touch of charm to the sanctuary's vibrant community.

Matilda

Beyond his striking appearance, Trooper captivates all with his gentle and beautiful nature, earning him a special place in our hearts.

While there are no plans to geld him at this time, Trooper will continue to grace us with his presence and charm for the foreseeable future.

He shares a close bond with his best mate, Rodger the Barmah stallion, forming a dynamic duo that adds to the unique tapestry of our sanctuary.

Luna

Meet Luna: The radiant daughter of Avani, rescued from the River Road Barmah in collaboration with Parks Victoria.

Since finding her sanctuary home, Luna has flourished into a vibrant young filly. At 2.4 years old, she exudes health and vitality, a testament to the care and love she's received.

Luna now shares her days with Aurora, a cherished member of her original family, forming a bond that enriches both of their lives.

Calypso

Introducing Calypso: A remarkable mare hailing from Barmah National Park and rescued as part of the River Road operation in collaboration with Parks Victoria.

Arriving at the sanctuary with her precious filly, Aurora, whilst also in foal, Calypso's journey has been one of resilience and strength.

With a spirit as independent as the wild, Calypso will find her sanctuary home for life, where she can roam free and embrace the peace she deserves.

While she may come across as non-social, Calypso's reserved nature masks a keen intelligence and a heart filled with wisdom.

Often found standing back to observe, she is a silent observer, taking in the world around her with a quiet dignity that commands respect.  In her presence, there is a sense of tranquillity and grace, reminding us of the beauty found in solitude.

Mugan

Introducing Mugan: The name means Ghost

A troubled soul again a failed rehoming that saw Mugan returned to the contractor with Eumarrah

Mugan is always on high alert and is taking some time to settle here.

Again time is what he needs to learn to trust and regain his confidence. Slowly slowly we hope he will soon be able to trust in us.

Mugan will have all the time he needs here in Sanctuary

Mugan was originally trapped in Kiandra in the last trappings done by NPWS. He was sold to an individual and held for several months before returning to the contractor.

Its sad to think some of the Brumbies get caught in failed rehomings but his future is now secure and we will work with him until he can have his needs met such as DNA , microchipping, branding and vaccinations before finding the right human. You can help support Mugan while he is in care with HOOFS2010

Avani

Meet Avani: This lovely mare holds a special place in our hearts as one of the mares rescued alongside Parks Victoria during the joint effort to save the River Road Brumbies in Barmah.

In a dire situation where starvation threatened their existence, Avani stood strong, providing nourishment and care for both her foals, Eclipse and Luna.

The road to recovery was long and arduous for Avani, but her unwavering determination and maternal instinct carried her through.

Despite the challenges, she remained a beacon of resilience and hope, guiding her precious daughters towards a brighter future.

Though the stallion was left to roam wild, Avani's unwavering love and dedication ensured that Eclipse and Luna had the best possible chance at survival.

Her selflessness and strength serve as a testament to the enduring bond between mother and offspring, reminding us of the incredible power of love in the face of adversity.

Eumarrah

Meet Eumarrah: The name means Warrior

A failed rehoming saw this 18mth old colt back at the contractors.
Sadly his first contact with humans wasnt positive so he landed with us here. The road for this fellow will be patience and he will have as long as he needs to find that all humans are not the same

On collecting this little man a challenge was excepted, he had a halter and drag lead on for some time

the first contact was in a crush again to enable the removal of the halter before transport.

His fear of humans was evident as he fought to not be touched again, so very sad to see.

he will never be forced to accept thingswe will work to change his perception of what interaction with a human means.

At HOOFS2010, he will continue to thrive, surrounded by care and love, as he embarks me time,

Melalueca_edited.jpg

Melaleuca

Introducing Melaleuca: A brave survivor of the Kosciuszko fires who emerged alongside two fellow weanlings, Blackbird and Tinka.

Despite her timid nature and lack of formal training, Melaleuca is gradually coming out of her shell and beginning to socialize with our team.

With each passing day, she grows more comfortable receiving pats and treats, a heartwarming sign of her growing trust.

Melaleuca has found her sanctuary home with us, where she will be cherished and cared for in the long term.

Menna

Meet Menna: A resilient soul who found her way into our care as a 2-year-old in 2018.

With her gentle nature and impeccable manners, Menna quickly became a shining star in our rehoming program, joining a loving family where she thrived.

Renowned for her ease with handling, excellent behaviour for the farrier, and calm demeanour during float trips, Menna was the epitome of a well-rounded and adaptable horse.

However, life sometimes throws unexpected curveballs, and Menna has found herself returning to HOOFS sanctuary under our boomerang policy.

Despite the change in circumstances, Menna remains the same sweet-natured and well-handled companion she always was.
